Course Objective

Main aims of this course are to give satisfactory information to students about reasons of supercharging, its influences on expanding engine application field, theoretical and practical fundamentals of supercharging, optimization of the relation among system components, problems in practice and improvements, modelling of the whole system, and to show actual application examples.

Introduction, History of supercharging, Supercharging as a way to improve engine performance and efficiency, Classification of charging systems, Thermodynamics of supercharging and turbocharging, Matching of charger and engine, Systems of engine and turbocharger, Energy conversions methods, Effects of supercharging on engine performance and exhaust gas emissions, Intercooling.
