Course Objective

The aim of this course is concepts of landscape, landscape classifications; Urban, urban spaces, concept of urban identity; Open and green space systems and their classification; Pedestrian areas, functional characteristics and design principles  of these areas; Urban furnitures; Road and square planting; Protection of existing trees and tree transplantation; Design of the physical environment for disabled people in urban areas.

3 The concepts of urban spaces, their classification, quality and standarts.
4 Functions of urban open green spaces.
5 The concept, classification, hystorical revolution, functions and design principles of pedestrian areas.
6 The concepts and classification of urban furnitures. Lighting elements, clocks, phone booths, toilets, shelters, information and communication boards.
7 Floor elements, seating elements, bins, shading elements, flowerpots, artistic structures, road line markings of urban furnitures. The properties of choosing urban furnitures
8 Principles and standards of urban road and square planting.
9 Midterm exam and Species of plants used in city road and squares, principles of plant selection.
10 Species of plants used in city road and squares, principles of plant selection.
11 Effects of urban ecosystems on plants. Functions and estetical effects of urban road and square planting.
12 Maintenance rules of urban road and square planting: pruning, watering, hoeing, fertilizing.
13 Protection of existing trees in urban aplications and plant transplantation.
14 Standards of physical environment design for disabled people in urban areas.
